TwinkeyMerchant Posted January 10, 2012 Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 So basicly im one of the very few that knows a half ass of what im doing when it comes to car audio in my town.. and my cousin has a jl audio 500/1 amp running to 2 jl audio w3 12's with all stock electrical and some compasitor.. anyways sometimes it will beat fine... no problems but then everyonce in awhile it will randomly drop to 8v's and the amp cuts off... i put my RF 1200 to them and it seem to work fine.. he said he hasn't had the problem so im guessing the problem is in his amp? any suggestions? btw lsu alabama game just started so if im slow or not that responsive... you know why lol but all feedback is appreciated. But if it works fine with the other amp and nothing has changed wiring wise between them then his amp is a good possibility. TwinkeyMerchant Posted January 10, 2012 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2012 yeah im thinkin faulty amp.. he bought the system used off this guy so that could be it.. he got the subs, box and amp for $300.. so im guessing the dude could have ripped him off. i told him ditch the cap and get some better batteries but hes "ballin on a budget" according to him lol but yeah ima re do it soon, run another battery in the trunk and lose the cap, and re run the grounds and powers to see if that might be a bad connection. if all else fails tell him he needs to invest in a new amp. thanks for all the suggestion guys.
