So that'd be your rms ^ this is true. but as im sure you know, you have to subtract amps for hvac controls, lights, fuel pump, anything that uses power. so that 160 amps can drop down to 100 pretty easily. but yeah op, it takes power to make power. sure you can run a larger amp, say 3000w, but you wont be able to play it for extended periods of time without draining the batteries and dropping the voltage pretty quick. you'd basically be trying to pull +300 amps from an alt that has 100 amps free and the rest from the batteries.
Mad_Mike Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I wouldn't do more than 2-2.5k watts RMS. Shouldn't need more than just one extra battery or replace the one under the hood with a good one. You might be able to run up to like 4k rms, but with a lot more batteries and still it won't let you play for very long. If you want to run more than 2500 then I suggest upgrading your alt.
