I ended up painting it with Rustoleum (I think) automotive spray paint. Well, this thing's stench is so thick, it's unbearable. I ended up bring it into the house after completing it and tested it... I couldn't wait any longer. (At 5% volume, my walls were rattling. It put my Polk Audio PSW10's to shame) Well, it only lasted a day; I had to bring it back out to the garage. The spray paint smell was too strong. Since I live in the Frozen North, leaving it outside to air out is kind of out of the question. It's going to sit in the garage, closed up. Will it air out without circulation of fresh air? (I heard somewhere it just needs to cure for 2-3 days, then the smell will be gone) Or does anyone have any ideas how to get the paint smell to diminish faster? Thanks. (Never sprayed the back where the amp is mounted though). Ended up making the basement smell like spray-pained flowers. It was a love-hate kind of smell. Haha. I was thinking about putting a fan over it, too, but then remembered my fan is still at my old place. I'll probably pick it up tomorrow and try that. Edit: Ford Taurus FTMFW! Mad_Mike Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Few days in the garage with a fan or two on it should kill the smell. I painted a box for my car few weeks ago and let it air out overnight with a few fans and couldn't smell anything.
