I don't personally use sketchup since I was never taught how to (+ I tend to prefer pencil + paper). Don't know if you've heard of the 12-16 sq in per cubic foot rule (for slotted ports) or not, so there it is. Basically when using the Torres calc and trying to put in the dimensions of the port, you are listing the internal dimensions. So if you're using 3 sides of the box as the port wall like you are trying to from what I understand, you put a 3 next to common port walls and then subtract 1.5 from height under box dimensions, list that as your port height, and then work on your width from there. Since you'll be doing 12-16 sq in per cu ft you want to multiply your desired net cubic feet by the 12-16 (so for the 15" sub we'll assume a 3.5 cu ft box) which would give you 42-56 sq in range for your port. From here, we'll assume that since it's a box for a 15, the outer dimension of the box for the height is 18. Subtracting 1.5 from this (.75 thick wood) gives you 16.5H for the port height. Now divide your port area range by this number to find your width. Then you can calculate length for tuning from there. 99fullsizechevy Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 I always do the L calculation my hand, say your box is 15 inches deep and your port needs to be 20 inches long. For this let's say port is three inches wide, your going to want to measure the center of the port to calculate how to do the L Box is 15 inches - .75 for the back wall gives you 14.25 there to use, now since your port is 3 wide you have to have 3 inches from there to the other part of the L Now to figure out the length of the L i take half the width of port and subtract it from the 14.25 which leaves 12.75 then 20-12.75 equals 7.25 which is the measurement from the center of the port in the corner to the end of the ports length so take 1.5 off 7.25 and you have the other have the L which is 5.75 then your other one is simply 3 inches away from the back.. End result 11.25 then turn and goes 5.75 more.. I'm on a phone hope that makes sense Laying frame soon.. System has to wait

But to sum up what he said, that's just the "Port length" in the calculator that extends further than the actual length of the box while keeping the port width the constant 3 inches wide.
