Miguels Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 whats under the tape here? why are the 2 wires taped, why are they there in the first place. remove the tape from the 2 red wires that are not connected and check for a resistor my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
Hadec Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 So protect mode is when the red light goes on. When I found a place where I could play the bass, I turned it up and went back to the amp and watched for the light to turn red. It never turned red but the bass did stop. I think it is faulty wiring. The bass might of rattled the "poor" wiring around or the wiring is not good enough for the amp/subs. I really don't think it is the amp at this point because when I would hit a bump in the road the bass would kick back in. Unless there is something loose in the amp but I highly doubt it considering what you guys are saying about what you "can actually see" from my pictures. I am going to go to another shop tomorrow and see what they say. If they cant figure it out I will have to learn how to do it myself I guess. I'll get a picture of whats under that tape tomorrow. BTW.. he had trouble wiring it in parallel or something so he wired it in "series" he said. And its wired to the amp at 2 ohms or something so it doesnt even get the 2500rms at 1 ohm. Its now whatever 2ohm is for the amp... I would do it myself if I had a lift but he wired it underneath and took apart the car to wire it there. Working on my first car audio build ever! Currently have: - 1996 Lexus LS400 sedan - Diablo Hellfire Proto Amplifier - (2) 12" Fi Bl Subwoofers - Vented subwoofer enclosure from Perfect Soundz - Installed by Perfect Soundz Needs: - Battery: probably XS Power 12V 2400 - "The Big 3"

Rebel4055 Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 I've said this a couple hundred times and so did others. Just do it your self. It's not hard to do any of this. You spent so much on this and it's piss poor. And what if you take it to another shop and they start saying you need this and this and this and turns out they are just screwing you over again? Just take whatever apart to see the ground location. Hell he probably double stuffed a ring terminal and self tapped it right to some flimsy metal. Rest In Peace mother. How do I get under the car? And besides I don't even know how to wire anything. Working on my first car audio build ever! Hadec Posted January 25, 2012 Author Report Posted January 25, 2012 Well I went to a place in Antioch, Illinois called Premium Sounds and Security. The guy there instantly found the problem. Here it is... So apparently Perfect Soundz wired my system through my factory sub? Not only that.. they also left it hooked up and running. This obviously caused a bad signal to my amp through the RCA cable making me think the amp was bad the whole time. And yes, Now my system is finally working! Working on my first car audio build ever! Rebel4055 Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 Wow what the hell. I would defiantly do something about that shop. I wonder if that was their trick to wire it down. /sarcasam. But still man you gotta learn how to setup a system. It isn't hard as you may think. It's almost down to common sense. Rest In Peace mother.
