fodosho Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 They have different soft parts and top plates the american bass subs are rated higher but tend to have problems on any over rated power and the audioque hdc3/4s take well over rated power. If im correct the last time i checked the american bass subs cost a ton more also. This is what I've seen so far too. Soft parts are not the same at all but the over "design" if you will is very similar. I was told the AB Dealer cost is more than the AQ, so that alone would be enough to turn me away. Not saying it's not a good woofer, it sounds like it is, but if I can get an AQ sub for cheaper with the same output I don't know why i would bother with the AB.
battlewalrus Posted January 24, 2012 Author Report Posted January 24, 2012 Yeah I did some googling and found a topic on caraudio.com that said the same thing about the soft parts As we all know, however, caraudio.com is not to be trusted lol Edit: Also sup mitch, she's a beast 2005 Honda CR-V AQ HDC315-A Hifonics BRZ1700.1D .5 Ohm 4.4 ft^3 box Kenwood Deck Big 3 XS Power D5100R Starter, D975 Rear

Gabriel Ruiz Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 I asked the same question in another forum and I was told the look similar but the ab is better, and there is also a xtreme vehicle doing some great numbers

I definitely will! It'll be a while, planning stages still ;P also - any idea why the wire is blue instead of brown? just a difference I noticed compared to AQ's stock photos and I figure it has to do with the aluminum vc. lol 2005 Honda CR-V AQ HDC315-A Hifonics BRZ1700.1D .5 Ohm 4.4 ft^3 box Kenwood Deck Big 3 XS Power D5100R Starter, D975 Rear

theChief Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Hey guys. yah they do seem extremely similar. ive used the american bass hd 15. ran it on 3500 at 1 ohm daily and it did just fine. i picked it up locally for about $350. however, the picture on their website is outdated the "new" so to speak HDs basket is different. i swapped mine out for that around october 2011. i have not had any experience with AQ though so i dont have any input as far as audible output.
battlewalrus Posted January 26, 2012 Author Report Posted January 26, 2012 heres what the newer one looks like Nice info, is the motor still more or less the same? 2005 Honda CR-V AQ HDC315-A Hifonics BRZ1700.1D .5 Ohm 4.4 ft^3 box Kenwood Deck Big 3 XS Power D5100R Starter, D975 Rear
