Mile High Guy
sorry its really not that much power to be honest. I would be careful with that much power on level 3s though. unless they are the new ones. ya they're the new Level 3s. i ordered them this morning from corona_jeff. so i should be ok running those subs on that amp. thx for lookin out. loudNlow87
You can fit them in there with a center port and still keep 3 cubes net at that tuning.. ok and would the port dimensions still be the same? is there a site that you know of where you are able to sketch everything out along with entering the measurements? i would like to have a basic layout and measurements with it when i find a shop to build this enclosure for me so that i know the box will be made to the correct specs and tuning freq. ty If you can be patient with me, I'll draw you a complete sketchup model tomorrow after work with your center port and all dimensions. I'm just not gonna spend 45 mins to hour on a complete design at 11 at night on a weekday. Mile High Guy
I completely understand and I thank you for your interest. I have no problem waiting on a design and i'm very appreciative for your generosity. Pm me if u need anymore info about my setup or anything at all. loudNlow87
Well.. As promised. Here you go. I didn't round the edges or anything. Just a quick sketch, but you should get the picture. 3 cubes @ 33Hz. Cheers. Joe X
Well.. As promised. Here you go. I didn't round the edges or anything. Cheers. that's exactly the design that i was looking for. i like the symmetry of that type of enclosure. i appreciate the time you spent helping me out on this thank you! Glad that you got the center port design you wanted OP but be aware that the design provided tunes to nearly 36Hz and the total net internal airspace is below 3 cuft. Thats why I had to go a little above of your specified width. Here are the calculations for the center port box: Port width: External = 2.75 in internal = 1.375 in Chamber area: 13.125 x 13.375 = 175,546875 2.125 x 4.125 = 8,765625 Total = 175,546875 + 8,765625 = 184,3125 sq.in. Gross Chamber Volume: 184,3125 x 15 = 2764,6875 = 1,599 cuft Net volume per chamber: Vb = 1,599 cuft - 0.16 = 1,439 cuft Physical Port length: 13.375 + 1.5 + 9 = 23.875 in Effective Port Length: PL = 23.875 + 0.5 x 1.375 = 24,5625 in Tuning: Since the is no direct tuning equation for T ports: Total Vb = 2,878 cuft Port Length (effective) = 24,5625 in Port Area = 2.75 x 15 = 40,8 sq.in. Using tuning equation it gives: Fb = 35.8Hz
Mile High Guy
so are the previous measurements and calculations wrong? i want to take my time and be sure that the enclosure that i'm getting built meets the specs for the subs along with the desired tuning frequency of 33-34Hz. if need be i can probably give up another 1/2" in depth but i can't go wider than 32" and have the enclosure sit flush in my trunk. loudNlow87
No.. That is not 36 Hz.. Lol. It's just over 3 cuft @ 33hz after displacement, end correction, etc. Not sure how you're doing you're math, but it's way off. loudNlow87
I can see what may be a bit of a change. The 13 3/8" is actually supposed to be 14.125". I goofed and clicked on the wrong line. Whether he uses the design or not, I was just stating that it's very possible to get what he's looking for. It's just a matter of playing with numbers. I'm pretty sure these were the numbers I punched in just going off the top of my head. Mile High Guy
thanks for your reply loudnlow87. i downloaded the torres box caculator today and was trying to learn how to use it. i wasn't sure how to enter the port dimensions for a slot port design that is in the middle of the enclosure ,but i did enter the measurements you gave me and i came up with almost the exact final box specs as you did except for the following specs: woofer displacement .32cuft., net vol. 2.92cuft and 34.12Hz tuning freq.
