Lucky4Designs Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Twiztid started a poll over in the subwoofers/enclosures forum, and it inspired me to finish what I started a long time ago! When I was 14, I made my own "Franken-woofer" out of parts from different subs. It was a huge success, but I didn't have the knowledge to finish what I started. Now that I have found PSi audio's parts, I have been thinking about building my own prototype sub again, this time out of legit parts. I've already gotten a list of parts and prices for them from PSi, and it's within my reach. I plan to make my own basket and spider landing again as I was very, very satisfied with the last one I made (incredible coil cooling) but the problem I have ran into now is finding motors. I have searched high and low on Google and have yet to find what I'm looking for. Can anyone point out a place to get motors? But check Caraudioclassifieds you can find them under misc parts usually. AlphaDamp Sound Deadening CDL Mat - The best Vibration Damper Ever! I'd hit that so fucking hard whoever pulled me out would be King of England. Lol... looks like we were on the same page. Car-B-Ques suck.ya, tires and paint burning make the marshmallows taste funny.
Lucky4Designs Posted January 30, 2012 Author Report Posted January 30, 2012 I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money on this prototype, I'm just wanting to experiment a little. If all goes well, I may start marketing but if so, that will probably be sometime in the future. For this prototype, I'm just looking to run about 800w RMS / no peak rating (who needs them anyway!), a decent amount of excursion, the legit cooling I had on the other sub, and more of just a daily sub... For now.
