speedball1978
Its been awhile since I've messed with installing a crossover. But my question is how do I install a 4 channel amp for the midrange/ mid bass and another 2 channel for my highs/tweets to a 3 way crossover without having to purchase a 2nd crossover? The 3rd amp is my sub amp Edited January 31, 2012 by speedball1978
MrSkippyJ
What kind of crossover? speedball1978
Clarion 3 way active
MrSkippyJ
got a link to it? If it is 3 way active then you just connect the RCA outputs for tweets to one amp, then the RCA outputs for mid range and mid bass to the 4 channel amp. speedball1978
http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2006/audio/processor/MCD360/us-en-product-pf_1132912143015.html It's not simple like you think it is, it has 2 outputs for either mids or highs but has a 3rd output for subs. I'm mostly likely going to have to order a y splitter to split of the signal
MrSkippyJ
Oh I gotcha. what amps are you using? speedball1978
Dc audio pai 120.4 that's the 4 channel I'm gonna a 2 channel for my tweeters but I got to be able to set frequencys for the tweets, midrange and mid bass I might have to order a different crossover
MrSkippyJ
it may be easier to get a different crossover, but it could be done with that one. i don't know much about the crossover on the DC pai amps, what settings does it have? speedball1978
The settings won't matter on the amp because the speakers will only see the settings on the active crossover
MrSkippyJ
sure it will. you can set the LP filter on the amps to say, 300hz on the amp and the HP settings on the crossover to 70hz. That gives you a band pass of 70-300hz for midbass. Then do the same with midrange, just change the settings for 300 HP and 3k LP to give you mid range bandpass you can use both crossovers together. However, I don't know what settings the DC amp has so you may not have the range to do it.
