Member's dust cap of choice?

Just got hooked up with a parts supplier the other day and I should be starting my prototype within the next couple of weeks when I have the money from my subs (will also need a motor as well!). This will be my first line of subs, so I'm wanting to keep it simple and cheap (not cheap built of course). My question is, I have a few different styles of dust caps in a few different materials to choose from... What would you like to see?

Polypropelyne dome (Also available in CF)

Polypropelyne dished/inverted (Also available in CF)

Pressed paper dished/inverted

Full-cone cover

Just in case anyone was wondering, these parts aren't coming from PSi.

full face all the way,

:werd_msword: I was thinking the same! They cost a little more than the others excluding the CF option. As for the look of an entry-level sub, I think it'll look pretty aggressive!

Maybe I missed something, are you starting your own company? Or what? I like full cone cover carbon fiber dished but I've never seen full cone cover inverted in carbon fiber, might look sick.

well there is more you could do with the full face dust caps, and i don't think you can really dent them in or damage em, but i also agree that they would look pretty aggressive

Yeah I'm starting my own company. As far as I know, my supplier doesn't have any full cone CF dust caps. I agree, it would look beautiful and really set them apart, but it would probably be pretty pricey.

Long story short, I'm not starting this company as a way to avoid a daily job or a quick buck kind of thing. This is my passion, and I want to give people what I wanted when I got into audio. An awesome product that sounds great, but isn't going to cost an arm and a leg. The only trouble I'm having is getting motors, that's where it gets pretty pricey.

I know it's a long shot, but eventually I'd like to build a woofer good enough to send to Steve himself to test out. That way when I start marketing, I can stamp on the boxes "SMD APPROVED"

Ahhh ok, ill be looking forward to seeing what you come up with, while building woofers for your own company is it kind of like the suppliers give you all these options then you build what seems best or do.you design what you want and they say yes or no if they can build it?

Kinda, the supplier gets all his parts from the manufacturer and there's actually quite a few options, but if you need something custom built, it can also be done.

I'll definitely keep everyone posted on the builds. I'm super excited to get my first shipment of parts in to share with everyone!
