Plexiglass Light Up With LEDs

Hey guys, I'm building a box with plexi side windows to see the baskets, but I don't know how to do it. Not only do I wanna see the basket I want to light the box up then I wanna also be able to light up the plexi. I was thinking vinyl stickers on the plexi and then makeing them light up more than the plexi itself. I'm wondering what thickness of plexi I would need and also what type/style of LEDs I need and how to attach them to the plexi to light it up. I was thinking about buying from oznium or superbrightled.

Minimum I would use is 3/4" plexi but 1" would be best.

You can build it a few ways. I have built both of these ways. You can sandwich between two pieces of wood an use silicone to seal the edges and screw the wood together so that you don't hAve to screw through the plexi. You can also use the flush mount method and

Use t nuts and bolt the plexi to the box. Again using silicone to seal the edges.

Do you just use lights inside the box, or do u light up the plexi 2? I love the baffle of ur box! The sides are pretty sweet 2

I used them in my build and got 3, 8 inch circles of 1/4" acrylic (basically same as plexi) for around $24

I paint the inside of the box and use LEDs inside of the box.

to actually light up the plexi you can do it a couple of different ways. one way is to use two sheets of 3/8 and a sheet of 1/4. you cut the 1/4 smaller than the 3/8 and sandwhich it between the two pieces of 3/8. u then use this groove to install your leds in. i have also just used a piece of 3/4 or 1 and routed a groove into the wood and mounted the leds in it. the key is for the leds to be at the edge of the plexi. then you take an airbrush gun with an abrasive mix made for etching and draw your logo or design. When you get done it will only light up the etched areas.

Wow! Just paint lights the box up that much? That's amazing, I thought I would need like thousands of LEDs.

So LEDs only light up etched glass?

So can I go thinner if I use Polycarbonate Sheets? They are supposed to be stronger than plexi/acrylic.
