Fiberglass Speaker Pods (First time fiberglass project)

After upgrading my door speakers, I decided it still wasn't loud enough and after a lengthy debate of an acoustical nature I decided to pull the trigger on some speaker pods where my sun visors were located. This is my first try at fiberglass, so I wasn't expecting much. I learned a lot for any future projects I might try later on down the road, so I consider the project a success.

If I was going to do it again, I would just have resined the outside of the fabric and fiberglassed the inside of the pod for strength. That would have reduced the amount of sanding and bondo work to smooth things out.

Yeah that'd drive me nuts...I'd be smacking my head into them.

They are pretty close to the face, but I have them turned down a little on their amp. The problem that I was having is that in my car by myself, my system sounded great, but when I have other people in the car, all the highs are super muffled because of people's legs and such basically blocking all the speakers.

The redeeming factor is that they sound crystal clear and I don't have to turn them up that high to add a lot of sound. I have hit my head on them once or twice when reaching to get something I dropped on the floor, but I'm 6 feet tall and it is a smallish car. They do not block my vision at all while driving, that was the primary priority when making these.

Well they look pretty clean, you did a good job on them. Why not mount them in the rear facing forward?

been wondering about something similar in the "roof console" where your sunglasses go...in my jeep its a flipdown compartment that could probably hold 2 3.5"highs or 2 supertweets or even 4 small sized tweets..just wondering if would be overkill on highs in your eyes!
