Started on the rear part for the mounting and motorizing the ipad & bezel.

First I machined out a section on the back to flush mount some aluminum channel. The ipad will slide into this from the side when the bezel is motorized out.

Pretty good fit. Fits so well I can turn it upside down and the aluminum doesn't fall out.

Made a cut out for the dock connector on the side that stops the Ipad when slid in. First time machining aluminum on router. (Beryllium BMW Inspiration starting small)

Currently i have auto-lock set at 10 minutes. I usually change tracks or touch the screen in less time than that but it can also be re-wakened via iJet NAV remote control I have hacked to work via my factory steering wheel controls. when you press play/pause button the ipad will come on and allow for unlocking again. (I got some pix of me doing this but havent uploaded em just yet.) The ipad is also wired to ignition on for charging which also turns it on to allow unlocking. Jailbreaking also opens up other options that I have yet to fully expore but plan to when the time comes for getting all the nit picky stuff worked out.

Heres my current progress on the sliding mechanism that will get motorization at some point. I will have some pix of the integration of the iJet NAV working by the factory steering wheel track forward and back buttons as well as play and pause when I get a chance (its gonna take a bit of explaination). Volume of course has already been explained in previous posts. Anywho heres more pix....

I love car audio so much because I will never be done. I can never win, and I will never get it finished or perfect. It always has me coming back for more, I can never get my fill of it, but I get what I need.
