Maxim
can having to small of speaker wire going to my sub cause clipping which causes a occasional smell? also will bigger wire make it louder? I've never heard of small speaker wire causing clipping but wire that is too small can definitely cause the plastic jacket to melt and smell as well as cause tons of other potential issues. Clipping would either come from the music itself or any equipment amplifying the signal. Quote wtf is lolcats? I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder. Also its more bang for my buck, more real estate for my dollar if you catch my drift. its like the Costco of streetwalkers. I was hoping for 150 . I was hoping she would let me put it in her butt
Guest
too small of speaker wire can cause a rise in impedance, which will make your woofers see less power, which in turn if you're a noob you'll turn the volume up more and that can cause clipping yeah. but like maxim said, too much power and too small a wire can cause the copper to heat up so much that it melts the jacket (which is very possible) causing the wire to expose itself and possibly catch on fire, but not before it starts to smell like shit. how did you tune your gains? what amp/sub setup are you working with? are you using bass boost or any other eq enhancement? skittlesRgood
where are you in nor cal? loud shouldnt be on. sub should be set to 0 unless its an alpine HU. no reason for the sub to be in reverse.
