Suggestions on daily driver subwoofer

Recommended Posts

Alright I know this is the place to go for great knowledge and solid suggestions so here goes...

Im working on a 240sx hatchback project, as far as audio is concerned I stepped up to a 110 amp alternator and the battery is already in the trunk, ill be using alpine type-s 6.5" components in the front and 6.5" coaxials in the rear driven by a 4ch kenwood amp.

I have about 2 cu ft that I want to use for either a sealed or ported enclosure with the sub facing up towards the glass and an amp rack design i've already worked out. Im looking at the Fi SSD 12" and sort of sifting through other forums for options. Basically im looking for a sound quality oriented woofer that can also get loud when I want to show off but im definitely not competing. I listen to a decent mix of rap and rock so it would be great if there was something that was fairly balanced between deep bass and tight bass. I've only had experience with alpine type E's in sealed boxes (obviously i'm pretty entry level) before so if there are any that can get loud and sound alright in a larger sealed box I could build it rather than pay someone or experiment with porting...

-2 cu ft +/- If i rework my design

-900 watts at 2 ohms or 500 watts at 4 ohms from a kenwood KAC-9105D amplifier

-between $200 and $250 for a single 12"

Thanks for any suggestions you can give me, i really just need someone to point me in the right direction.

Id say you hit the nail on the head with the Fi SSd 12" as far as all those requirements go. I did a build with one for my niece on a Sundown 1000 and it slammed. Very good bang for the buck and sounded good too. I dont think you will be disapointed with it at all.
