HunterJohnson
Whats up SMD Its time for me to upgrade from my SA-8 which I have thoroughly enjoyed in my Scion tC. I got a deal on an Alpine Type X 12" and I'm starting to figure out a box design. I want it to be ported, preferably a slot port and the sub will be in the box, I don't want it inverted. What do you guys recommend? Thanks! Joe X
What are the maximum dims of your box, how much power you intend to run and what car are you putting this on, with that info I can give you a design suggestion.
HunterJohnson
Thanks Joe X Max Dimensions: L 15" W40" H12.5" Power: Brutus 1200 which is 900RMS @ 2Ohms If thats not enough I'll get the Brutus 2400 which is 1700RMS @ 2Ohms and I'll keep it turned down I am putting it into a scion tC here is what the trunk looks like: This is my setup right now, except I have a shuriken battery on the left side of the subwoofer. Joe X
Ok so here is a suggestion for a single SWX1243 sub/port backfiring is standard configuration for that type of vehicle, can be changed later to sub/port upfiring if necessary but is not always recommended: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 32 Hz Vb = 1.3 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Front Mounted External Height = 13 in External Width = 23 in External Depth = 15 in Port Width = 1 1/2 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: Front & Back = 23 x 13 Left & Right Sides = 13 1/2 x 11 1/2 Top & Bottom = 23 x 13 1/2 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 12 x 11 1/2 Extension = 15 3/4 x 11 1/2 Went to 13H since the cutout is 10.9 and 1.5 is the thickness of the top and botton panels it gets rather tight at 12.5. Let me know any questions.
HunterJohnson
Thanks I'll give it a try this weekend. I said 12.5 because at a 40" width that was the max, but at 23" theres plenty of room to go 13. When you say backfiring you mean exactly as I have my sa-8's port? Thanks again Joe much appreciated. Joe X
Right like your sa-8 box port sub backfiring If you have 14.75H better follow this since is simpler to build: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 32 Hz Vb = 1.303 ft^3 Subwoofer Mounting = Front Mounted External Height = 14.75 in External Width = 31.75 in External Depth = 10.5 in Port Width = 1 1/2 in Cut List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: Front = 29 1/2 x 13 1/4 Back = 31 3/4 x 13 1/4 Left & Right Sides: Side 1 = 9 x 13 1/4 Side 2 = 9 3/4 x 13 1/4 Top & Bottom = 31 3/4 x 10 1/2 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 7 1/2 x 13 1/4 Extension = 25 1/4 x 13 1/
