MD7786
Ok so I'm about to do the big 3. I am running 2 yellow tops with 0 gauge now with it fused twice on each end of my power wire. Now do I need to fuse my power from my alt yo battery and what size fuse?
sprkn_ranger
Yes, fuse any positive wire. And you fuse to whatever the wire is rated for. Example if you have 1/0 gauge that is rated at 280A then use a 280A fuse. The reason to fuse is so that if the power wire grounds out on something and shorts, the fuse will blow before the wire heats up and catches on fire. So it's good to have the fuse as close to the power source (alt or battery) as possible so there is the least amount of unprotected wire as possible. sprkn_ranger
Yes, just a single fuse near the battery will be fine. Nine8SST
I thought the fuse from the alternator was supposed to match the output? For example, if you have a 200 amp alternator you would put a 200 amp fuse between the alt and battery? 1998 SS/T Ram Build Log - Kenwood KVT-514 and KNA-G510 Navigation - 2 DC Level 3 12" - Components??? - Sundown ??? - Sundown??? - Knu Konceptz - Second Skin Dampy Pro - XS D6500
