Purplehaze
Well my 13 yr old son has a ASUS Netbook, and the other day, he dropped it on the hardwood floor. Now it wont load windows, when you try to start it, it just goes to a blank screen. It will let me run the memory diag. tool, but it won't show me the results, since it won't load windows, and the results are given after restart. I'm no computer expert, and I have never worked on anything but a tower. But I'd really like to try to fix this before just running out and buying a new one. I tent to think there is something wrong with the hard drive now, but it could be something else. So, does anyone know where to start? Thanks for any help, I appreciate it guys! n8ball2013
Well its pretty well shot. Does it make any noises? The thing with netbooks is that you dont have a cd rom to try to reload it. What kind of disk drive is in it? The thing with netbooks is that you dont have a cd rom to try to reload it. What kind of disk drive is in it? No, it doesn't really make any noise, it's pretty quiet. And I guess it's your typical Netbook, w/ 120g HD, and single core AMD processor. No cd or dvd rom does it still have warranty? No, it just ran out in January, FML!!! most likely destroyed the hard drive..u would need external dvd drive to install windows back on..i've done it .its a pain to rip aprart and put a new hard drive in That's kinda what I was thinking. And since I don't have an external dvd drive, I'm probably gonna be better off to just buy him a new netbook, huh? Thanks for the help guys! fosgatefan821
you can get a external drive of ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/13pin-Slim-SATA-to-USB-External-Portable-Case-for-Laptop-CD-ROM-DVD-DVD-RW-Drive-/150773944897?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item231ad3d241 and a new hard drive for $50 or more . have to find or buy the windows software for it, but by the time u rip it all apart ..and replace it all and install the software..prob easier to just buy new one ad\nd sell that one for parts Quote 2007 Ford Ranger (ALL YET TO BE INSTALLED - DUE TO WORK SCHEDULES) K&N Performance Air Intake Massive Audio D2400 Mono Amplifier 2 Custom Built 8" Subwoofers in Ported Enclosure Pioneer AVH-P4400BH In Dash Double Din DVD Player (Video Bypassed) 4 - Pioneer TS-A6886R 6" X 8" 2 - SMD Heavy Duty Single ANL Fuse Blocks 2- Stinger SPP1200 Dry Cell Batteries JL AUDIO Interconnects 2/0 Gauge Big 3 ILL Customz 8 Spot Flat Lug Style Bolt Down Terminals ILL Customz 1/0 to 4 Gauge Power / Ground Reducers Factory Alternator __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2002 Cheverlot Monte Carlo SS - (Deceased) 2 - Rockford Fosgate Power 1501BD 1 - Rockford Fosgate Power 851x Rockford Fosgate Power 6 1/2 Components Rockford Fosgate Power 3 way 6x9 2 - JL Audio W7 13.5" Subwoofers (Sealed) Pioneer AVH-P4400BH In - Dash DVD Player Pioneer AVIC - U250 - Add-on GPS Navigation System Audio Control 6XS 4 Way Crossover / Line Driver Ohio Generator 200 Amp Alternator 3 - Stinger SPP1200 Batteries 1 - Optima D34/78 Battery

What if I got him that dvd drive, and pick up a 1tb ext. HD. Would that work? Or would I still need to replace the internal HD for windows to run from??? Sorry guys, I am a semi stupid when it comes to this stuff..... But hey I'm learning! That's why I'd kinda like to fix this. I can easily just buy another netbook, they are stoopid cheap now. But I'd like to learn a thing or two, if I can..... Thanks again for the replies and suggestions! n8ball2013
yes you would. Its easier to replace it. 60 bucks for a hard drive 50 bucks for a dvd drive. 100 bucks for windows or a brand new netbook or tablet for 300. Yeah, I can get him the exact same one he had BNIB for about $220 tax and all. Probably stupid not to just do that. Thanks guys!
