Don't they calibrate there tint reading machines? Radar guns hve the be certified and if you fight a speeding ticket if that gun wasn't certified you win. Maybe there are some calibration issues, maybe not but its an angle. Usually they stay up on certifications, otherwise why bother.

Here's something for you. If the court time isn't during their shift, they get over time to go to court for you to fight the ticket. Al least thats how it works for my brother here in Ca. He gets some fat OT checks.

XtremeSPL - I am curious how do you win a tint ticket with tinted window in CA? You must have had 88% percent, or called 85% if it lumar. Why would they pull you over for that light of a tint?

actully.. i had 2.5% all the way around.. it was dark dark limo tint. but the part that i got a ticket for was the winshield.. i had dark streak on the bottom and the top.. with stickers on the bottom of the winshield and top. i took off my winshield wipers, cause you dont need them in the summer time.. and like i said, i did a bunch of research on tint, and then i had the tint shop print me up a receipt saying what % i purchased, and then the fact my tinbt went 5" down and 5" up...

but you know if the cop writes you a ticket, and has 6-7 things ion that ticket.. if you fight one thing.. you fight it all. and if they throw out one thing on that bticket.. THEY THROW OUT EVERYTHING ON THAT TICKET... california lopool...

there are so many ways to get out of tickets it isnt funny.. look mfor my book in the spring :)

oh - so a fake receipt. that makes more sence. I couldn't imagine how a receipt showing you hve 2.5% would help you

Man you had it coming with tint that dark in CA. It was only a matter of time. Don't get one in Merced, they don't throw out the whole ticket there according to my brother who is a motor cop there. Maybe thats a county thing and not state. Where is you city anyway, never heard of it?

Im still kind of in a situation I guess........

I had a local cop test it. This cop DIDNT know how to use the meter, but at least I seen him reading the manual first.

The cop in my town used the TM200 http://www.tintmeterwarehouse.com/tmwitime.html

This meter read both my front passenger and rear passenger at 32%. So I guess thats a step up from the cop that gave me the ticket saying it was 29%

I tried to explain to the cop why the meter is wrong, but he wouldnt listen and pretty much told me I didnt know what I was talking about.

I was told Im wrong, and the meter is write and he cant sign off on the ticket.

I stopped at 3 shops in town that do tinting. I talked to each tint specialist and asked him to come outside and tell me what percent my tint is. Each one said 50% without a doubt..

My logic to why these meters read darker then the windows actually are is because almost EVERY vehicle window from at least 1990s if not earlier have some sort of a ray blocker from the sun.

My car for example has something called EZ-Kool. It says the name on every window in the car. Some vehicles you can notice a sllight difference in glass color, but some you cant.

What I am thinking is whatever type of tint or whatever they got in the glass to block the rays is being picked up by the tint meter making the windows actully read darker then what they are, without looking darker.

So I guess what I will do is wait for my ticket to come in the mail.

Then Ill fight it.

I have a friend pulling me out a front window from a car at the junk yard he works at. Im going to tint a stripe of 20%, 35%, 50% and then just a stripe of normal glass. I will also do it one a piece of plexi glass (because they get a test card of different window tints that come with the meter) And then bring the window, and test sample I made to court, then they can test THEIR meter to my test card to their test card. Then they can also test the window I bring in to show that the untint part of the window gives out a read out on their meter. Then if need be go outside to my car and hold my test window next to my window for a comparrison.

I think that should be more then enough proof of legal tint.

I also found this. Pretty interesting back up to my theory which is pretty much correct now :)
