Brad Hillsdon Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 Hey need a bit of advice on my system. I have a twin JBL GTO4D or O2 don't remember but there wired at 2 ohms. But when music Is on quietly they cut in and out like there not receiving enough power... I'm on my 4th sub now and they all start doing it. When I turn it up though it's plays fine. I have a Alpine mdr-m605 mono block amp. A friend said it could be the gain so I put it down to 4v but it still continues... And idea's why? Some help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Need to no any other specs just ask.
Guest Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 how big is your power and ground wire? is the ground wire bolted to something VERY thick like a strut tower or the frame? some bolt on a side panel or seat belt doesnt count. measure the voltage drop with a multimeter while playing music at the volume that it cuts out on. set to DC volts and put it on the + and - power lines on the amp.

Ikedi Eruchie Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Thanks for reply. Ground and power is 4 gauge and I have a cap, but the ground is bolted to a body panel. I'll change that and try it on the chassis or somthing more structural. It cuts out more on certain frequencies when turned down... Nothing out of the subs range as they play louder fine. But Yeahh I'll measure the voltage drop and report back.
Brad Hillsdon Posted March 24, 2012 Author Report Posted March 24, 2012 If I did this right I don't no. Doesn't help I only have a cheap multi meter that doesn't respond very quickly. But every time the bass distorts/cuts out the voltage seems to drop to a negative value? This help explain why?

I dont know how many times I say this but it kills me when a new member joins and needs help but doesnt bother to fill out their profile so people know where they are. You never know who might be close and able to look at it.
