homemade house subwoofer?

Recommended Posts

Nice setup, should sound better with matching subs.

I got a nice 500 watt RMS @ 4ohm amp (plate amp from parts express) running an old MTX 15 in a 15.5 cu box tuned to 20 hz. Shakes the whole damn house, I can only image what Meades towers do to his shop. Oh and the Sub is 8 ohm so its only getting about 250 watts.

Why would you have a single 15" in 15.5 cubes? :sigh:

To have an even response curve down to 20hz. That and the cuts where easier :)

That's way too big for a 15" sub, even 18" subs require 4-8 cubes. If you put it in a 3cf. box tuned to your mid to low 30's, it probably wouldn't sound like ass.

I have a dual 15inch subwoofer ht box and it has to be 14.37 cubes to get it to 20hz

Im a broke student. still manage to have a pretty good system though.. (at least i think)

I have an 8" RE Audio sub in a 1 cube box (3x larger than recommended) tuned to 30 and it gets usable response down to about 26hz in my office. Gets stupid low in the car, tho, due to all the cabin gain.

Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
