Definitely want to do 4 8" subs, been stuck on SA8v1's but read a topic not too long ago referring to Alpine's release of an 8" version of their type R. I'm always up for volume, but since I went from my Peavey loudspeakers to Electrovoice LiveX's (aka SPL to SQ in the pro audio world) I've been a fan of clean but still loud enough music. Anyone heard anything on the Alpine SWR 8's? (Not a direct comparsion, just suggestions, may be worth a dabble...) POTATO!

sps1989 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 I think you should stick with the sundowns. They will get loud and sound good while doing it. You won't be disappointed. Plus customer service is awesome, if anything ever happens that is.

Yeah, I figured as much, but someone posted on DIYMA that the Type R's were better sounding, not as loud, but higher quality bass...Figured I would ask at least. POTATO!

I mean right now I am using a type r12 I had laying around cuz I sold my sundown sa-15 and my dc level 4 12. But the type r has the least amount of sound quality. I mean it sounds good but the others are better. Your choice though.

I've heard type R 12's, and compared them to my SDC's that I had, and it just sounded more full and clearer. The R's were loud but not that you could really tell... POTATO!
