HunterJohnson
Thought I knew alot about stereo but im STUMPED! I put my sa-8 and mrp-500 into my brothers 99 camry. Wired it with 4 gauge KnuKonceptz OFC kit Gains set to the middle Low Pass filter at 100hz Head unit is Sony Xplod mex-bt3700u The amp is turning on the subwoofer is playing just a tiny bit louder than the 6 x 9's in the back. I plugged the RCAs into my amp in my car and the alpine/sundown worked just fine. So it is either a headunit problem or an RCA problem. The back of the sony has subwoofer preouts that are black without indication of right or left. I turned the HU to max volume and I also turned all the eq settings to max and still the sub is a tiny bit louder than the 6 x 9's. 01ExSport
Incredibly weak preouts? Did you turn up the bass, or the SW preout? All I have for suggestions about now, lol. What's you subsonic at?
HunterJohnson
Thats my guess is weak preouts. You think the HU is not working right? and the mrp500 is a set subsonic filter (15 Hz, 24 dB/octave)...isnt it? 01ExSport
not sure on the subsonic, haven't dealt with many alpine amps, the H/U has 2v preouts. hmmm.... And did you check if the headunit has any lpf turned on?
jrchevy87
i think theres a sw setting on the headunit, i know a buddy of mine had that problem on his xplod(dont remember what model), his was 2 rca's out one front and one rear/subwoofer and he had to set it for subwoofer to play anything Jeep Wrangler TJ Hardtop Build
HunterJohnson
I turned the lpf off, on, nothing works. The subwoofer is on at max, +10db I looked on the mrp500 manual and it said 4v RCA, so I think the sony isn't putting a strong enough signal to it. What is the cheapest way to go about fixing this problem.
