Audioque HDC3 18 box?

Looking for ideas on the box size/tuning point

I keep hearing people saying to do a big box tuned high. But when I modeled 6.5 cuft @ 37hz, it gave a really peaky response according to winISD

But when I plotted 5 cuft @ 32hz, it seemed to give a reasonable response.

Ideas on this?

dont tune that low with aq woofers unless you want to lose some higher end output and want to be able to play down to like 25hz or something. every setup i heard with aq woofers that were tuned to mid 30's played low 30's and high 20's quite well.

winisd doesnt really take into account of well...anything. in regards to space that is. when you put that box in your car the low end will increase significantly and the overall graphed response will change.

i may be wrong on some of this, i may not. i dont have any personal on hands experience with aq woofers. im just going by what i've heard time and time again from multiple people.

The plots on winisd are not very reliable, shit changes when you put it in a car.

Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.

More box builds

some cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches!

That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Here are the 2 different response curves I am getting

winisd doesnt take into account real world applications. it just takes your box and sub setup and puts it outside on your driveway with a mic a foot in front of it and measures the response. once you put it in your car, everything is going to change. just do 35hz. thats the lowest i've seen recommended for those woofers. sure people tune them lower, but thats because they typically want a low end monster.

Read that quote in your signature.

WinISD is just theory that doesn't take into account cabin acoustics,

people who have experience with the sub say tune higher, bigger box.

i would try something like this, although i don't have any information of woofer displacement so i made up one close to what i believe your sub might have.
