weird voltage drop

Recommended Posts

im pretty sure that most all fords have a pcm controlled alt.

so unless your bypassing that your not going to use the full power of your alternator. even then on a stock electrical your alt probly does maybe 100 amps. your cars probly using 30 amps to run.. so 70 amps left for everything eles.

there goes your 700 watts.

yeah i know theres gonna be voltage drop on a 1700w amp on stock electrical i was just wondering why it drops straight off from 14.8 to nearly killing my car.

and no big 3 yet.

i got a battery for you if you need it

you'll never see the full 1700 with that amp anyways. Its rated at 14.4 volts, which means you'll need to constantly be charging and staying at 14.4 volts to sustain that 1700 watts, and even then you won't see it cause amps aren't 100% efficient.

The efficiency is taken into account when placing a rating on an amp. For example, the amp does 1700wrms @14.4v @85% efficiency
