As far as attaching to the door panel you can add small pieces of wood 1/4"-1/2"thick with strong glue (CA or other strong epoxy/crazy glue) and use as thick wood as you can.

Then (this assumes the pod is built apart from the doorpanel) you can screw throu the pod/add on piece through the door panel and into the wood behind it to secure it by making a wood-doorpanel-wood sandwich.

Good idea, thats what i did exept insead of wood ( i didnt have room for even 1/4 behind the door pannel) i just used quick clips and threaded the screw trough them then cut off the extra screw threads with my dremel, worked great

Maybe i'm reading that wrong-

But I hope you don't think that only one kind of material will work and the rest will just fall apart.

It's like the "Bondo is the devil" claim.

I use it bescause I can get it cheap and plentiful, but some claim "that stuff doesn't work"...

Well seems to work just fine for me-it's all a matter of not asking it to do more than its capable of. Just know the limitations of what ur using and just about anything is "usable". Same goes for cloth material.

Just FYI yall-Don't be disuaded from trying something just because you don't think you have "the right materials".

oh no, i know you can use just about anything. just hear that polyester is better. i like the flexibility of fleece compared to other materials. pretty easy to get wrinkles out of it when stretching

Ok cool.

I just wanted to make sure. My motto is generally- When you're building it custom, as long as YOU know it will work, don't let anybody tell ya otherwise.

And yea "T-shirt material" or the cotton/polyester blends seem to work best IMO.

Old Tshirts are fine for pods and smaller jobs...but when you have a BIG job to cover... Kinda sucks trying to join 10 Tshirts together so It's easier to just get some sheets of material.

But then again, I'mma tiny person so My shirts don't offer much material.

Damn i forgot to say one thing, since i learned this lesson first hand i want to say it to anyone who is making a fiberglass project for one of their first times. before you actually apply the chop matt (fiberglass), soak the material with resin only, first and let it dry. If you dont do this, if you add the chop matt along with the resin first, it can warp the shape of what you want slightly. Someone credible told me to do this on this website (dont remember who) and i also read it in the back of a CA&E magazine in the How-to section.

Also a good, cleaner technique, i think, is using teh super 77 spray, and spraying that first and then put the chop mat down, so it will stick and already be in place. Now all you need to do is apply the resin/hardner mix. It seemed easier this way.
