Need help Need help!!

This is kind of 2 questions.........I've been searching for an 18 or 15 to buy.. my budget is 500$ for the speaker alone and SPL is of no concern to me as of right now.. and I have a 99 Tahoe.......... now I only know so many brands.. like kicker, re audio, Mtx, ma audio, pioneer, and ofcourse Fi Car audio. If anyone has any good suggestions on a brand and speaker.. feel free to fill me in.....................Now I've been eye balling the Fi Sp4 18.. I have a question about this speaker though.. will it function WELL in a sealed box? I know it would be smart to put it in a ported box but I just need a little space for my trunk.. you know..

sub up port back sounds great.

$500 gives u few options.

Im currently running 2 15ins AQ HDC3-15's. they hit really hard.

Ive heard just 1 18 and it sounded phenomenal.

Lots of brands.

DC audio makes some sicks subs so does DD

You basically have alot of options.

Just gotta find a brand

I'm sure that you'll have no problem going sealed, just don't expect it to be louder than a ported box but if your concerned with space you'll be fine.

More subs made at the same location and equally as impressive as the FI's are.

Thank your for the input.. ill look into those brands. I have another question.. Rubber surround is better then foam, am I correct?? Also.. if I were to go ported.. what would you recommend the cu ft be for the Sp4 18..

Don't recall the last time i seen a foam surround on a sub so you'll have no issues there as most everyone uses a rubber compound of some type.

FI recommends 3cf to 5cf usually tuned to 33hz for optimal results

Alright alright.. I was just asking because for the ascendant audio link you gave me they said they were foam surround if I'm not mistaken. Well, thanks for the info. It really helped believe it or not. Are fi audio rms ratings true? Because I've ran thru a few brands in the past that were any thing but..

Yup, quite capable of taking more power than they list them as as long as it is clean unclipped power they take it like champs.
