4 channel amp installed sounds worse than factory

I had a RF r250-4 insalled yesterday at a local audio shop and also a pair of RF p1693 speakers put in the front doors. I have Infiniy Reference 6x8s in the rear.

After the insall the first thing I noticed was how it lacked clarity horribly, the factory unit sounded much better. Then I tried to fade the signal to the rear to see how the Infinity speakers sounded but when I did all I got was output from the sub. I faded to the normal center and i get siganal out of the front, rear and sub. So i listened to it from the back seat and the infinitys seem to be clear. BTW the infinitys are 2ohm and the RFs are 4ohm, and i still have the factory head unit. Could it be they only used 1 hi/low or is the resistance differnce? I really have no idea.

try fade to front and see if all the speakers work. they may have wired the fronts and sub to your 4chan and your rears to your sub?

Sounds like you have a bunch of things that could be wrong.

First off what is the vehicle and stock system.

Today's premium system's are very well tuned and sound great to start off. If it is basic or an older vehicle then upgrading will almost always be beneficial.

Now are the subs being powered from the 4 channel as well? from your fading issues sounds like it is. You also mentioned a center channel. which needs its own channel as well. so you have two big issues one you may not have enought output on your head unit to accomodate all the speakers and two you don't have enough channels of amplification either.

Bottm line need a little more information.

It's a 08 Ford Focus and i kept the stock reciever becuase i would lose everything in my dash and it sounds decent. What I meant by center was the middle of front and rear, he normal position i guess you would call it.

The 4 channel is only running the 4 full range speakers, i have the RF r500-1 powering my sub.

I vote checking the x-over setting at the amp.

The shop probably used the front two channels of your stock hu for your four channel off one hilo and another one on the rear channels for your subs. I do that all the time at the shop that I work at. Try tuning the crossovers on your amp .
