Guest
this just lets you have good voltage with the car off, thats what it sounds like Uhh no? The eld is used when the car is running.
cuetip
ok i see, so the eld just draws enough power to technically charge stuff, with the mod you technically turn it off and the amp sends more volts, is that right
Guest
No. The eld is a controller. It tells the alt how much voltage to produce. The mod disables this controller and allows the alt to charge at its highest set point voltage. Aka 14.
HatersGonnaHate
The ELD controls when the computer switches the alternator into H.O. mode, the bypass lets YOU control when the alternator goes into H.O. mode. The ELD is designed to reduce the alt output so it will put less stress on the engine. It's a Honda thing, they do this to make it run more efficient and get better gas mileage. HatersGonnaHate
Yessir. Each manufacturer has some kind of way to regulate voltage in some sort of way, and there is usually a product on the market to bypass it or work around it. To the best of my knowledge, there are no bypasses on the market for the Hondas out there. So keep_hope_alive on the Accord forums did a lot of research and figured out what needs to be done to bypass the ELD. I went ahead and did the bypass just to confirm that it worked, and I did my own little write-up about it over here because I feel it would be a huge benefit to the Honda drivers in the car audio game. cjvue
96 Acura Integra LS. Been suffering with all that AC, Headligh, Defrost, etc being turned on... lol If you can find out, I'd be much appreicated. Can't seen to keep up with the voltage above 12.8's with just 3k watts at idle. While car is rolling is a different story though. While the car is moving, that 3k barely tickles the volt (14.0 is the lowest). My AB500.1 don't dip below 13.x connect @ 0.5 ohm while the car is rolling.
