setting amp gains...

Question on setting amp gains with a dmm...ive read alot about this and I've noticed most everything I've seen/read people are using about a 50hz tone... Can you use a lower tone?? For example could you use a 35hz tone if your going for the lows? Awhile back i set my gains with a 50hz tone off of YouTube...lol..but it worked out pretty good.

i did what your doing. i had a cheap mtx amp (still cea 2006) and i did it at 0 as i also heard it was the best. but then tried 23,30,40, 60, and 80 and the volts still read the same. for me at least

lol sorry, not sure the db i used to be honest. i started with 50hz cuz i also heard thats the best. and after i set it according to 50hzz, i changed the tone to 20-80 and the voltage didn't change. i have had no bass boost on the amp so look for that and i have no subsonic on, but i didnt go below 20hz anyways again not sure the b i used so that could be why, maybe my amp was more stable at lower voltage but w.e.

technicaly ou can do whatever you want to lol. but to my knowledge it shouldn't matter. try playing a 50 hz tone, and set it to whatever volts. then keeping everything the same, change it to 20-80 like i did and see if there is a difference....essentially the Hz that requires the most power, you want to be the one matched with your rms. that ways everythings clean..

obv getting a DD1 would be the absoulte fastest way to go, but if your like me. i only have one system and spending the $ sucks cuz i have like a one time use for it :/ still deciding on gettin it

DMM's are most accurate at 60hz, since thats what most electronics operate at. Therefore if you play anything under 50hz, you'll get less and less accurate readings. I also believe its due to as you get lower, the pulses of the alternating current get too slow to the point the DMM cannot keep a constant signal. But bottom line yes, you CAN measure voltage below 50hz, but no, it will not be accurate, I'd measure at 50-60hz.
