mrd6 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 badass bro. looking good! Thanks! I wish I was able to give you a proper demo! Looks really good! I got to hear a set of those Tantrics the other day. Even on low power they sounded really good. Tuned in. I am really impressed with them. Especially considering the price. Nice work man... Can't wait to here this thing. Hope you're bringing it out to play for finals You got your ear-full Chester haha and I don't care what you say, you're truck is loud as hell. Like I said on Sunday, it messes with my ears more than mine does And some updates coming in a sec, need to get this log back up to date again My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL
mrd6 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 So i'll start it off with the front stage. Finished up the body work on the door pods and then took them to a shop to get them covered. I was right, they needed ALOT of stitching but I think they turned out great. They were able to use the exact same Vinyl I used on my wall face so its a perfect match. I stuffed a good amount of fill in these On the door. There are a few wrinkles here and there but they dont show when the doors are closed and this Vinyl doesnt stretch worth a damn so it really doesnt bother me. The other door. There is a layer of foam on these in between the vinyl and pods which is why you see the dents where they rest agains the seats with the doors closed. And the pillars Then my view from the drivers seat to put it in better perspective. Don't mind the tape on my glove box, my system busted it open one day and I havent had the time yet to go in and see if I can fix the latch. All in all I am very happy with how things are sounding. I haven't done any real tuning (just a quick time alignment the night I got everything installed and I picked a safe crossover point of 3.2k at 24db). The separation of instruments and imaging is really impressive to me on high quality tracks but still evident on most MP3s. I entered into IASCA PRO/AM SQC on Sunday and placed 3rd in my class. It was great talking with the judge about things I can do to make it sound even better but the highlights I think were in his words "REALLY fun to listen to" and "your midbass is FANTASTIC" so I think that says a fair bit about the the tantric comps. His main gripes were that there were some really weird reflections coming from the giant bandpass chamber right next to your head. This is very true, you can hear the echo of your own voice when having a conversation in the car. Also, the sound stage is a bit low and there is a slight lack of depth on the left side. So hopefully I can do some tuning and clean some of that up a bit. Maybe make a foam plug of some kind for the port I can put in for running SQ to reduce echos...we will see. mrd6 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Oh and pics of the amps powering this front stage. Crossfire BMF 600.2 on the mids And another Crossfire BMF 600.2 on the tweeters I have the gains set pretty conservatively ( a bit below distortion on the 0db tone with the DD1) and the front stage is still keeping up no problem. mrd6 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Some one asked about fusing at one point and I made some changes with that awhile back so here is that. No pictures of the fuses in the back, nothing to exciting to look at right now haha And then the big news, finally filled in my battery bank and made some bus bars to tie them all together. I made a few small changes in the wall like rounding over the rear ports, minor sanding and putting "spl tape" on things but nothing worth taking pictures of. Then did some testing to find my peak with the new port and got these numbers wired at 1 ohm on the DD. Dropping to about 13.1 on a burp...sealed up legal on the dash.
