Electrical upgrade for Orion 12" HCCA? Help please?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am brand new to this forum and I am glad I can be a part of it! THANKS IN ADV. FOR YOUR HELP!

:help:

I saw a Orion HCCA 12" and a 3,500wrms Kole amp for sale...anyways the price is right but I am not sure what I need to do to power this beast... It is just a stock alternator now and just a regular battery. Do I need a new alternator, battery and/or capacitors? I am newer to car audio and I would like to do this as cheap as I can. lol

Oh, now I have a RE AUDIO SRx12-D2 12" subwoofer in a sealed box on a crossfire vr402 amp in a regular cab truck. It is pushing 300wrms and I think it pounds pretty good! (but nothing like the hcca i hear). So what kind of a difference in sound can I expect?

that 3500w kole amp is a joke it wont even properly power thAT hcca.if the price is good then id consider it

and you ALWAYS need to do the big 3 upgrade and with a amp that can power the hcca you need at least a 2nd battery in the back

capacitors are junk..stay away from them they do more harm then good.. bc they only store instant power and discharge just as fast..then to keep itsself "charged" it pulls more from the underhood battery..therfore draining it more.. even tho its already supplying everything.. so your electrical will suffer..

and plz do research before you go asking a bunch of questions that could be asked in greater detail if you just did 10 mins of researching on this forum

there are at least 2 or 3 threads about capacitors and batteries etc etc

ok that all makes sense i'll check into all of that. I have heard of the the big 3 before. Great thx so if the amp is rated 3,500rms you really dont think it can do even 2,000rms then? lol and in summary basically look into additional batterys, read older posts and skip upgrading alternator and definetly skip caps right? and thx a ton bro!

2k is about all it will put out but it will be dirty power, if you get that sub then i would sell that amp to someone and go with a audiopipe or hifonics

if your on a budget, but a second battery and big 3 will need to be done, however it will be louder but depends on car and all that great stuff

they have a kole audio 5500 for 195, now that right there should tell you it will not put out anything near it

also another decent company is planet audio, alot of people run em and they do get loud. if you ever get your hands on a old big bang amp well there nice
