Please help! Apparently a H/O alternator for Honda Fits is nearly impossible?!

Recommended Posts

I found the link for H/O alts for the Honda Fit, http://www.qualitypowerauto.com/catalog.php?item=264, although they're for a 2008 Fit so I don't know if they'd work with mine...and upon doing a different kind of search, apparently now there are ways to disable the ECM so it can't regulate the alternator anymore. Although I don't know if that's bad for it...

I guess I'll keep asking around and researching :/ Since this is specifically a Honda problem I guess I'd have more luck on those forums. I appreciate the input! If anyone has any more info that could help though, feel free to post it. I could use all the help I could get.

Oh snap, yes you do. Lol. So you know where I'm comin from. So do you think that, if I keep my alternator and battery up front stock, but add extra batteries in the back in addition to 6,000 watts of power to my sound system....If I turn my car on, turn my headlights and my A/C on, and rev the engine at 2k RPM for a bit, will my alternator be ok while I put the bass at full tilt? When you get to a certain wattage, batteries only help so much until they put too much strain on the alternator, don't they?

Batteries will help, but for 6k watts of power is gonna be drawing a lot of amperage, and the stock alt is only a 70 amp or something tiny like that. Trying to charge all those batts on a stock alt will kill your it. So your bass would drop and the car would probably stall lol. But like mentioned above, you're gonna need an H.O. alt. Gonna have to contact Singer, Mechman, or DCPower.

Here's the only other Fit Sport on here that I remember, he doesn't have an H.O. alt either, but he's only pushing 1500 watts

have you ever tried mechman for a alt

they can fit a alternator on just about anything

also you keep saying "they re wired the stock alt for high amp" so they tore the case apart and put new insides in it.. just for a few extra amps..

ive known a couple ppl get thier stock alts rewrapped for maybe 50 to 60 more amps but then the alt gets soo hot its not worth it

Well I don't know HOW they did it, but they just said they rewired it to be high output...that's the extent of my knowledge about it lol. I don't think the issue of getting an alternator to fit in the car is the issue, so much as the Electronic Control Module...I'm no engineer, so I can't make complete sense of how it works, and what can be done to it, but from what I've read, getting a new H/O alt won't change how the ECM regulates it, but apparently rewiring the existing one will....I don't get it :/ which is why I'm asking you people lol.

find another model car that uses the same engine with a higher amp alt and see if it has a internal voltage regulator..... bolt it on and wire it up like you would any other alt.....shouldnt be that hard..... i work at a junkyard and i see all kinds of alts that would fit other cars with higher amp alts..... or howbout pick one up that looks semi close to fitting and make your own brackets? right now im working on fitting a 140 amp volvo alt into my a/c compressor location to be run just for my stereo needs....and the stock alt is for the engine and lights and such.....i think imma go research and see what i can find....lol

edit: so apparently your car runs the same sohc 16 valve i-v tech as alot of other hondas run..... id look into that.... there is no difference between engines between the fit and the fit sport..... i would visually look at alternators and see what will fit and what year / model it comes from and go from there.....unless your not on a budget...then call mechman
