98' Ford Escort Zx2 - Beginning of a Rebuild

You can only use what you got.As long as your happy at the moment that is all that counts.Your car sucks man I just noticed how your trunk lift support arms are.Mine are the ones that swing down 9"s from the top when the trunk is shut.Your car has those strut support arms.Looking good man like I was told "get back to work"lol. You could take a knife or x-acto knife and slowly cut down to straighten the speaker terminal.

Recently I painted the terminal cup white to give it some good contrast against the flat black box, put the remaining screws into the box to improve the rigidity (not that it will matter with only 500watts), and I bought flat black paint for the box. I will try the paint, if it doesn't work out then I will just throw in some more money and go with a bedliner exterior. I'll just post all the pics up when it's all painted, no one really wants to see the painting process so I'll just show you the final product when it's done. I get my first big boy pay check on friday for the summer, so I'll go ahead and order my Skar VVX-12D4 then :yahoo: Still waiting on that power wire and RCA's to come in, if it doesn't come soon then I'm just going to say screw it and buy some per foot from the local car audio store.

Box is looking good man.

Thanks a lot. I realized that they are heavier than they look and a pain in the ass to get looking good. I'm hoping it turns out well

I realized that when I decided to put it in the trunk, I saw some cars have those annoying arms so I consider myself lucky to have these pistons to keep up the trunk.

Today is awesome, I ordered my Skar Audio VVX-12D4 today and got 17ft of 4 gauge wire for an extra $10 :yahoo: They should be in sometime this week. I'll have pics and vids up when they come in.

Meanwhile, I did a few things to my car while waiting for this

I painted the box, but I'm thinking about repainting it with bedliner because I learned that flat black paint scuffs really easily :/

Loaded that box with an SA-12D4 until I can get the permanent sub in there

Right now it's ghetto wired with a separate battery in the trunk to power the amp and sub

Went to get some more materials and got a little sidetracked...

Then I get back on track and put shit back together, which included rewiring the RCA connections and redoing the remote connection which I am having some problems with. You can see those problems at this link: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143022-wtfffff-problems-with-remote-wire/page__pid__2024522#entry2024522

I know it's a lot of pictures, but really not a lot has accomplished since last time

First video right here, I know it isn't a lot bud keep in mind that this is a budget build, my car still needs more of a purpose than a sound system and transportation, so here it goes

Looking good .Where did you end up getting your install kit at.When I took out the carpet I found $11.45 from the wife and children. SA's can move some air that's pretty cool .I've not heard them in person so don't know much about them.Keep up the good work.

Thanks, I'm really impressed with how it performs. Actually it's kinda ghetto-rigged right now until my Skar VVX-12D4 and 17ft of power wire come in this week. Currently I have another battery in the trunk that is just connected to the amp power, ground, and remote. Everything else was finished so I didn't want to wait for the damn power cable to come in :/ I'll have more pictures up this week when I wire the amp and install the new sub later this week :rofl2: I want to use the L-brackets that I bought to mount the box to the trunk and use the remaining MDF to replace the cardboard floor. MDF > cardboard

I love my SA-12s, I got them when they were on sale for $150 a piece a while ago, I highly recommend them if you ever get the chance to switch over.

I need to get back to :detail:
