98' Ford Escort Zx2 - Beginning of a Rebuild

Recommended Posts

Good gob so far kid so are going to wall it or no

Thanks. Going to wall it for sure. I'm doing a complete rebuild so I'm not reusing anything from my last build because the last one was budget. u want to keep this one consistent and done right if it means paying more money. I have credit cards to pay off and student loans so this will be slow.

this fucking car pisses me off sometimes. I'm not good with engines or mechanical car parts. So far I have changed pads, vacuum lines, driver side drive shaft, valve covers, and now I have a leaky brake line. So I get to find out where it's leaking and shell out more money (but not as much as taking it to a shop) and fix it myself with the help from a friend. I usually need supervision so I don't further break my car like I usually do when doing mechanical stuff by myself.

fuck this car I'm returning it to stock and not doing a build in it anymore

Until after I buy another rust free manual 2003 zx2 with a perfect shell to make a show car :twirl:

Well I bought ford racing coilovers and I hate them... Looking to sell now and buy BC racing coilovers instead. Talked to the bank about getting a loan to buy a project car to transfer audio and performance parts to :) I might have a project car sooner than expected.

Things on the list when I do, starting from beginning to last

ATX to MTX swap

transfer performance parts (intake, exhaust, blah blah blah)

strip interior

sound deadener/wiring

interior swap (tan is gay)

Head unit

Wall

battery bank (trunk)

subs/amp

mids/highs/amp

I'm gonna wait until it warms up to do serious building. It's too cold outside lol

Thats dedication gettin a loan to do a build. Lol iv thought about it but cant bring myself to do it. I hate oweing people money so i just have slow ass builds

It's just a personal loan to buy the car. The guy I want to buy it off of says if I buy within 30 days then he'll drop the price and swap it over from automatic to manual transmission :) So I can finally install this transmission that I have sitting in my closet lol. I just hate working on the same car as my daily driver because my deadline to put the car back together is whenever I need to drive anywhere. I have already came across situations where I have broke something on my car and been stranded because it was my daily. For example, breaking a halfshaft in half in a parking lot on a sunday when no shops are open... oops :(

I am very excited to have a project car that I can keep on jackstands for weeks at a time to tinker away throughout the week rather than just on weekends. Not only will I have time to learn about engines and how to fix them more, but I can also have more time to work on my car in general (my gf comes over on weekends). I put 9k miles on my car in the past 3 months too, I don't want to do that to a project/show car

I don't even have the car yet, but I can envision that it's going to look badass
