lol at your bacing displacement  I think you can round up lol

good choice with the VVX-12s, they are efficient little buggers that get down low and nasty. You might want to check the clamped power on those 3 amps. I had a friend buy the AP-15001D, SAZ-1500D, and SK1500.1 to decide which to use, and the SAZ-1500D put out more power.

I kinda have same plans as you. I tried doing a flush mount today but didn't have enough material, and I'm doing a cabin-firing trunk build too and using great stuff

It's a little tight, but it can never be too tight if you're sealing off the trunk

Looking good. Sub played better than I would have thought.

Thanks man, and yeah, I was surprised how it played when I 1st put it in. I don't know why, but it seems like there's something about large boxes that makes Kickers shine. Though should play better after I upgrade the speaker wire, currently using 16 gauge, which according to a chart I read only allows for 300 watts at 2 ohms.

Crandis16:

Yeah, I was trying to be accurate with all the dowels, and 45's lol, and like my boxes to be tight fitted under my rear deck, holds the box better, and seems a little bit louder. Looks like good progress coming from you. I actually been leaning towards the SAZ-1500D since I've heard it's one of the most efficient 1500 watt amp around, and I've heard nothing but good things about Sundown. Though the Skar idea is just an idea at the moment, got to keep working and saving up, but I will have something done, because I'm liking those Skars so far :D

Oh yeah, because you are curious about the Focals

Update for today

Got my new speaker wire in, Audio Technix OFC 8 gauge power wire, extremely good quality stuff, comparable to Knu Konceptz, and they gave me stickers :D

469383_500188786664712_1814344458_o.jpg

Something random, decided to ditch the magnet cover

177190_500188859998038_355815837_o.jpg

The inside with the new wires, and terminals, but due to the length, attaching the wire to the terminals was a little fun

169341_500188919998032_887705627_o.jpg

Fits nicely on my amp's speaker terminal

More advanced terminal, alot stronger, and very hard to unscrew

178521_500189089998015_1265909832_o.jpg

Overall results:

I noticed more air being moved, it sound alot clearer, and felt a slightly tighter response, overall, was worth the effort, and learned not to cheap out on speaker wire.

Tweeters should be here in a few days.

I'm about at the stage for doing leads to my box too and I'm not doing a terminal cup this time. Is that just liquid nails or wood glue that you have holding the threaded rod in place? it looks like it's coming along pretty well. personally I like to line the edges with caulking, it make me feel like it gives it a SLIGHT radius to the corners and helps to seal what the liquid nails didn't on the butts of the wood

That's actually plumbers tape, helps seal off the threaded screws a little bit, and I actually used clear caulk, which does the same as caulk, but I randomly picked when I went to Lowes. One thing I hate about clear caulk though, has a nasty vinegar smell to it when you first apply it, but only when it's wet.

The new terminal is a huge improvement I must say.

Update for today:

Got some new Tang Band 25-302SH neo tweeters :D, and a pair of 5k high pass crossovers

Backside290011_501449869871937_266652_o.jpg

Before doing anything, I decided to hook these up to my home amp to test them out, and they have a nice neutral sound to them, and a flat response as well, they are harsh when the song is harsh like the beginning of Pink Floyd - Time, and soft when the song is soft.

Plan for them is to hole saw my a-pillars, and install them there. The crossvers will be installed my dashboard in place of the blown stock tweeter where the connection is so far.

Oh yeah, got myself a new toy when looking around at the local pawn shop

426845_501843983165859_2077112278_n.jpg

Got it for $30, works, and have some future use for this, well, after I get bits and the jasper circle jig attachment as well.

That is all

I got a few things done yesterday

Crappy OEM tweeter vs New Tweeter

333305_502310836452507_1773753251_o.jpg

Installed crossover

290073_502311013119156_1985583743_o.jpg

Preparing a-pillars to make new holes for new tweeters since they sound 10x better there than on the dashboard

469300_502311226452468_1087867839_o.jpg

Holes made, and this is where the bad part began

333437_502311416452449_1931381552_o.jpg

Running the wires

256508_502311609785763_1199062749_o.jpg

And this is where the a-pillar started fucking up on me, but it doesn't affect the structure, and the tweeter still holds strong, it's just old plastic falling apart. Also didn't realize the tweeter couldn't go in, so had to use electrical tape to not show the screws

177542_502312049785719_419001765_o.jpg

At least the other side turned alright, though if I do learn to glass, I'm buying replacement a-pillars to do it.

330805_502312216452369_1538349152_o.jpg

How the a-pillars turned out pissed me off, until I sat inside my car, and took a listen, after hearing how good it sounded, I didn't care about the looks anymore, the sound quality made up for it.

Oh yeah, other news, I ordered myself a DD-1 :D

I'll be the 1st person in Ocoee to have one :D

Small, update, redid my a-pillars slighty since my the way I had them before was slicing my ears with high's heavy songs (metal, brostep, dnb, etc) and woke up with ringing ears, so I changed them slighty, by having them angle a little towards the windshield, and facing towards the rearview mirror, sounds a lot smoother while retaining detail, still looks like crap though, though fiberglassing project is planned, so this will be a temp for a little while. Also fixed the left a-pillar with gorilla tape, and epoxy.

Next plan is deaden my doors, reardeck, and save up for fiberglassing materials along with a-pillar replacements. Budget is kinda low since I'm saving for another project non-car audio related since I've got the job.
