L7 15s In My Truck (update 1/12)

Did you fab the dual alternator bracket yourself or did you get it from Dom? Nice setup BTW, I'm a great fan of the L7's as well. I'm really really close to going witht he 18' Solo X for my next setup.

I've done all my work through a local audio shop. They have a real strong belief in the lower amperage alternators (150s) as apposed to the 200s and 300s. For my tahoe I'm getting this summer they are gonna put 3 150s in on 3 kinetik hc2400s. I decided against the soloxs for my tahoe. I'm just gonna stick with l7s and get 4 l7 15s.

I had 1 12" solo x tuned at 38 hz no one could compare it to there systems it was running 1.5k was loud for what it was been fed. Ive got 2 Solox will be feeding them 1ohm 4k at 38 hz 7 cubic foot box just remember my car is hatch back so cant fit much init. But i was surprised at the attention of one of them i like them but mostly l7's and solox are great subs im not using anything else.

I talked to the kicker reps and they basically told me not to get the solo xs. Since my new tahoe build was going to be a daily driver/spl competitor, they told me the L7 15s (4) would be best because the solo xs (i wanted 4 12s) overheat and the cones melt. I do a lot of driving and my l7s heat up a good bit now. I don't want to have to deal with a sub heatin problem. Did you see that problem with yours?

I got a question for you, having all those 6x9s right behind your ear, can you hear the rear speakers much more than the fronts? Do you think you could've gotten away with 2 6x9s with the gain turned up further on the amp for the rear speakers? (Assuming you turned it down quite a bit with all four of em', to get balanced sound)

Yea the imaging is off because of the highs behind my head. It sounds really nice though and doesn't affect the quality too much. I was just going for shear loudness. I listen to the music with the bass crankin constantly and I like to hear the lyrics while the bass is hittin

Install looks good man! I had a pair of those L7's a while back and loved the way they sounded. The install is super clean too. Much more than I can say for any of my installs..

My installers are crazy about those 150s. I love the ones I have now. I can sit in the parking lot all day crankin the music and never have to touch the accelerator.

well considering the power your running i would hope so, its not really much voltage coming out of 1 2500.1 and a 4 channel, id be willing to bet a single 200amp alt would have been find for that, seems like they love 150amp alts to get people to spend more money on alts
