Hey guys I have a slight problem but I have no idea what it could be.

I checked the powers and grounds on my big 3, powers and grounds on my rear batts, amps, everything and nothing seems loose or corroded. Charged my batts and issue still persists.

So here's the thing, when I turn my car on and have it sitting my voltage is good, when I'm driving my voltage is good, BUT when my car is in gear and and I'm at a stop my voltage drops into the mid 12s. It does that even if nothing is on (stereo, light, etc)

What do you guys think it could be?

your rpm is probably low

Build Under Construction

Head Unit = Kenwood DDX514

Amps = Kicker 750.1, Going to install Sundown 1500D v3 and Sundown 125.4

Battery = XS D3400

Wires = Kicker RCA's, 0 Gauge street wire and Stinger

Mids and Highs = Stock

Sub= Kicker L7 12"

Alternator = 220 Mechman

Sound Deadner= Fatmat and Stinger Road Kill

Wouldn't rpm stay the same at idle on Park and at idle in gear? Or does that change?

RPM usually goes down a little bit when you put it in gear. Have you checked alt output at the voltage regulator?

What is your idle rpm.

I haven't checked my output since I got my alt from Mechman last year.

Not sure, my car doesn't have an RPM gauge.

Go ahead and check your output voltage. The regulator might be going bad, or if it's adjustable, just adjust it.

Sounds like what he said... when you put it in drive and sit there your rpms are too low for the alt to turn on...

If it just started doing this but didnt before... One of two things.. Either your rectifier is going out or you have some batteries pulling more current than they used to before. Like they are going bad or need to be charged overnite.

What could cause the rectifier to go out? Especially this fast, it's only been about a year and the car gets used like 1 a month if that.

I already tried having the batts on a charger over night, I'll try it again though.
