CheezyMane13 Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 So I got a 15" Fi BL D2 and now its just in a pretty decent prefab box tuned to like 40Hz. I have a autotek SS1900.1D amp playin on it at 1 ohm. I am gonna be starting a build on a box for this sub and for my car. The amp is just temporary for now, hope to be going to RF or maybe a crescendo 3.5k for sub amp. havent yet decided on a mids/high amp or speakers yet. I know I can only have 5.25" in the front doors and 6x9s in the back deck. i would like the fronts to be components, and have the rear deck speakers be matching. First off i have a few questions. The box I have designed up for my car is 4.52 sq ft and has (4)four 3" aero ports. it is tuned at 32Hz. Dimensions are 17"H x 34'W x 18.5"D.Sub will be mounted on the 17" wall and so will the ports. First question, is the port area too small for a single 15" BL? (remember im using aeros ports) Should I modify my box and design to allow for (4) four 4" aero ports? if so Would a port firing sideways into a wheel well would be my only option to avoid bends in the ports? Like I said I got the autotek amp now which actually probably puts out over 1500rms prob close to 1700rms. Could i run a crescendo 3.5k at 0.5 ohms runnign two 15" Fi BL's? Also my last question is more of a comment. i'm thinking RF for mids/highs and amp. The Autotek Amp Do you guys think it does anything close to the rated 1900rms @1ohm First steps in making my trunk a solid piece. Atleast one more can of GREAT STUFF and then sound deadener. I mounted my new volt meter nicely in the cigarette ash tray, The door flap works nicely and completely hides the bright blue light late at night when I want it dark. Big 3 and runs to back battery all done in 1/0AWG with three 300A fuses protecting everything. Car was just detailed a week ago so thats why engine bay has shinyness to it. Not bad for a 2000 Buick. I know its 12 years old but it has 63000 miles on it, looks clean, and is great on gas. Which is good for me since I have to drive a lot for work. It sounds kinda like the rear speaker houosing for factory speakers is loose but when i inspect its not. Could it be the sheet metal on my rear deck flexing badly.
