meade916
Since the trunk will no doubt get hot, and so will the amps, especially behind plexi-glass, i had to devise an air-managment system. Aka FANS. Most cars have air equalization vents. You know the little vent in the trunk with the rubber flaps that lets air out, but not in. The Lexus has 2 of them. One on each side. I decided to take the driver side vent, and reverse it, allowing the flaps to open when the fan kicks on. It will close when the fan is off. It is up inside the bumper and gets no weather, so no worry's. Removed and flipped backwards, to allow air in. 106 CFM on the big fans (1 per side), 50 cfm on each of the smaller ones (x3 per side). meade916
Air vent reversed, now i need to get these fans to suck air through it. Exhaust on the passenger side. Mounted with sheet metal brackets and sealed with Second Skin. The fans don't fit down in that little crevasse so the next best thing was to put them right above it and make it air tight. Ran out of Second Skin in the black......had some left over SS from a while back when it was still foil-colored. Same shit just different color. I had just enough to get the job done. I just ordered a bunch more to finish the rest of the car. Should be here tomorrow. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
The bigger fans are pulling air from the chamber created below the tanks. It will make sense in a few more pictures. Time to tunnel-ram the air over the top of the amp chamber. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
the tanks had to be raised up and i used the top of the "tunnel" as a good spot to re-mount them. Threaded inserts always make for a secure attachment. as you can see, once air comes in from the vents from the triple fans, it goes into a chamber below this. This thing has the bigger fan which grabs the air, shoots it over the amps, and then out the other side of the car. It really works great! Trying to find the shape of the inside of the trunk. This is oldschool way of doing it but still works good Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
This piece that was cut out actually goes back in and covers the plexi. I WILL have some usable trunk space when done. Not much but some! It should look super clean but have a few panels i can remove to show the goods when i want too In case you didn't notice, the ML system was relocated. It was in the way where it was. SIDE PIECES coming soon. I have a million things to do to complete this trunk but at least i am making progress!
