I have a 1998 Plymouth grand voyager with a brand new stock 130 amp alt and a brand new stock batt and am running 1 memphis 1000d amp at 1 ohm

voltage drops to 10.5v

looking to upgrade to a Powerbass XTA 4000d running 1 ohm and 1 maybe 2 Powerbass XTA 4140 at 2 ohm.

How big of an alt how many and what size batts and how much and what size power wire should I use?

Big Alt maby from Mechman a 340 SMD alt if it fit in your car. Biggest baddes you can fit under the hood from XS and 2 D 3100 or XP 3000 in the back.

2 runs of 0/1 gauge pos and 2 neg. Or 1 run of 0/2 gauge pos and neg.

That seems like a whole lot more voltage drop than you should be having. Have you done the big 3??

Honstly you should be holding pretty steady at 14v with only 1k with a 130A alt.

But as for upgrading, i'd shoot for the biggest alt that's made for your car. Assuming probably a 220 or 270 and 2-3 group 31 batts.

I have not yet done the big 3. stock is 4awg. could the voltage drop be a bad ground? I am now running 3 inch of 4awg a 100 amp breaker then 2 runs of 4awg for 20 feet or so then a 1fared rockford cap with 1 4awg 1ft to amp. ground is 1 4awg 1ft from cap and 1 4awg 1ft from amp both to same grounding spot

First, throw the cap out, caps are only usefull if you have a solid rock electrical system. Buy the 7 ft 0/1 gauge and to the Big 3 in 0/1 gauge.

^^ what he said ditch the cap or atleast try it with out it and see the difference but you'll throw it anyways lol been their too
