Help deciding on an amp

Recommended Posts

Amp all 4 speakers on a 4 channel amp and since you're running all Kenwood look for a Kenwood Amp you should be straight with a 100x4 amp just go really easy on the gains for the front speakers.

This Kenwood amp will give your by 9's full power but you will have to be really gentle on the gains for the 5 1/4's http://www.sonicelec...elon-XR-4S.html

Price of your guess is direct out of the worehouse. And it´s a class D amp, for mids and high´s class AB sounds better.

I guess you http://www.ebay.com/...=item43afddbb14 very good SQ amp, or the bigger brother http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e5dae1ba5

The reason I suggested the amp I did was because he is running all Kenwood gear and it would make more sense to keep matching gear than change it up now. The soundstream reference would be dope but I am a stickler for matching my gear and I do that as much as I can.

yeah, thats what I'd like to keep going for. Until I get to the subs that is. I'll prolly even upgrade to a eXcelon headunit.

Have you already started thinking about subs?

I've started slightly, I've had my fair share of simple setups and I think I'd like to go big now. I do have an idea of turning my trunk to the whole box, and inverting the speakers in place of where the back seat would be, I'd love to get 2 AA SMD's simply because astetically they'd look beast like that and they bang hard anyway.

Ifnot, I plan to go the DC route, with at least 2 lvl 4 XL's or better.

the one issue i got tho is the back wall behind the rear seat is just cluttered with fuse boxes & a bunch of crap from the bose system.

Okay I can see your issue. can you just uninstall all of the bose stuff since you are aftermarket or is it integrated in the system and will cause issues? If anything hit up snafu on here he is an electrical genius so he may have a solution for you to bypass the issue. I can't check out the link you posted until I get to work. I am mobile now.

I kno the bose crap is tied into the anti-theft system & i read stories of the car randomly cutting out and refusing to start. I plan to pull it all out over the weekend tho.

as far as the other stuff also mounted behind the rear seat... i got a fuse box and a few other things i have yet to learn what they are. Thinkin i'ma have to pickup the service manual so i can learn what i can rip out.

also, still been havin issues with the new head unit retaining memory after its powered off. its wired to the 12v constant but i still think the bose brain box is messing with it so i'ma be running a 12v directly off the battery w/ a fuse. hopefully that solves that issue.

basically it comes down to having to rewire the car like it never had a audio system installed.

if you want a cheaper option look at the mb quart onyx series. a lot of people run then due to the power / price ratio

You could always get a custom built fuse box and wire it like that.
