4.5 is quite big for a z v.3 15 but eater way you go v.3 v.4 there going to want more power than that. -

Alternator whine HELP ME!
PowerHouse407 replied to PowerHouse407's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
yeah well i plugged in the ipod directly into the amp not using the rcas and there was no alt whine witch makes me believe that there is no issues with the amp or speakers. so my only 2 things past that is the rcas or the head unit itself. so to rule out where my reas were ran my friend had a brand new set of top end rcas. so i ran those just over the seats not under the side trim ( just a 1 min test because he wanted them back) and the alt whine was still there. witch makes me believe that the rcas are ok. so now i'm at the head unit. -

Alternator whine HELP ME!
PowerHouse407 replied to PowerHouse407's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
well the rcas and power wire are ran on the other side of the car. and i have now tried 4 different rcas with the same conclusion. so it must be the ground. but i have been looking and can not find a good place to ground it.. i have a 2004 VW jetta and if know about newer vws everything is hidden or covered ect. so i really don't know where to ground it. -

help -
OK so today i was going to install my 4 chan amp and new door speakers till i got punched in the face by alternator wine. So i have ruled out my speakers and amp by hooking up a iPod straight to the amp. now as soon as i plug in the rcas it wines really bad and if i unplug the reas from the head unit and only plug them into the amp it wines a very small amount but it is still there but i could live with it. So i tried grounding my rcas to the head unit with no luck so i am confuse and pissed off at this point. what can i do next.?? I know the main source of wine is coming from the HU and a small bit from the rcas ( also the rcas are top of the line knu and i also tried my RF twisted) any help will be helpful!!!! AHAHA
