port question

Recommended Posts

It is actually .5" off because I forgot to factor in the .5" added by the thickness of the wood where it butts up against the other piece at the 90 degree turn. The way you have it drawn with the dimensions you listed, the port is only 4.5" wide.

The pieces would need to be 15"/9.5", and 21.5"/16" for a 5" wide port that is 31" long.

Why are you using .5"? You do understand the port can have a lot of pressure inside it just like the box. Round ports can be thin because they self brace by design.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

i only have .5 available at the moment in half the sheet so ill use it rather than scrap it.

in my drawing i think i have drew it wrong but for the width of the top and bottom it would be 6 in to fit the .5 pieces on each side.

and my drawing isnt scale correct. but i think you noticed it. i drew it with out a ruler just to get the shape of the port down.
