Riley Evan Houser
I have a SoundstreamTX1.2000D amp and it has a bass knob. Honestly never used one, not completely sure what they do. Also, I have the Clarion EQS746 equalizer, should I hook that up to my Soundstream amp for my Sundown Audio 15"s along with the bass knob? I have the Kenwood X395 and it has a 15db sub level. I want my subs to be LOUD, so what should I do? Keep the stereo hooked up to the Soundstream or just hook Equalizer to the Soundstream? Would love to hear your opinions everybody, what you all think I should or shouldn't do.
StoneCold455
I think you should hook your clarion eq up to the soundstream amp and ditch the bass knob. Then turn the sub level to the max and tune the amp with a -10db 40hz tone. This way your bass will be 10db's louder than the bass in the song when you turn the level up. If you want more flexibility just use a louder tone when tuning like a -5db. Or you could just set the bass control on the headunit to normal, turn the bass knob to the max, and then tune it with a 0db tone. then turn the bass control on the headunit to max and leave it there and use the bass knob to control the sub volume. Either way will make your bass loud. Personally I use the second way but that is because i do not have an equalizer like you do.
IBleedMusick
Hook the amps up to the EQ and don't worry about the bass knob, the Clarion has a knob for that. If you are using a DD-1 when you tune your amps then you would turn the bass knob on the eq to halfway and either use Track 3 (Max SQ) or Track 5 (Blend of Quality and Loudness), I typically don't use Track 7. All the bass knob does is allows you to turn the bass up and down to your desired preference. It does not adjust the gains on the amp it simply works within the limits set with the gain on the amp. Make sure bass boost remains all the way down or off on the amp there is no need for it.
