RooTxBeeR Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 K well I converted my subs to direct leads because the metal ring terminals would get so hot they would melt off of the plastic mounts. I have my subs at the moment each wired in series then from one coil of each straight to the amp. I blew a sub, and want to wire only one sub. My question is, if I want to go parallel, is it fine if I just run both neg leads off the sub, to the neg terminal on the amp, and same for pos. Or do I need to wire one neg to the other, and from there to the amp. Just curious so I don't accidenlty blow my new amp, and because having to solder a wire onto the tinsel lead wont be fun, nor do I think will it work well either. tacomabanga1986 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 if its the amp in ur sig then pos to pos and neg to neg will be fine depending on ohm load of the speaker, ie wireing in parallel lowers ohm load and might have to do some adjusting on gain for other sub so not to blow it hope this helps here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
RooTxBeeR Posted June 4, 2012 Author Report Posted June 4, 2012 That's what I was looking for, and yes I will be dropping from 4 ohms to 2 ohms. The amp is was tuned at 33V which I got from 300 watts * 4 ohms then the square root of that. running at 2 ohms it will be running actually at the exact same voltage. 300W * 4 ohms is the same as 600W * 2 ohms haha On 11/20/2012 at 8:54 PM, AMI CUSTOMS said: Turned mine up today at a light, guy next to me his steering wheel started moving and he looked over at me like I was a magician lol.
