Designing A Transmission Line

Recommended Posts

I wanna design a tLine for my 12.

The Fs of the sub is 30hz.

So my port length would have to be 9.41 Ft. Could I round that to 9.5?

The measurement from middle of the surround to middle of surround is exactly 10" so The surface area of my sub is 78.5 Sq/in.

This is port area correct?

tlinetutor.jpg

Is this the proper shape for a tLine?

I want to know If a port area of 20in by 4in is O.K.

Or is there a method you are supposed to use?

How do I determine all of the box dimension's?

The 45* angle's required?

Just looking for information.

Thanks.

EDIT: Took a minute to calculate some stuff.

Measurements calculate in wood thickness.

Box dimensions of 21.5 Wide x 15 Tall x (Not sure how to calculate.)

Is there a formula to determine how long each section is or is it guess and check?

Hey bigpimpin another thing look for the mdf sheet at the depot that has some scuffs in it...you can get them 1/2 off and than buy 2 sheets! ;) They don't want to hang onto it because people won't buy scuffed board especially if they are paying full price so either they throw it away or sell it as clearance and rid themselves of moving it around and throwing it away...dad is a builder and you'd be surprised the money they knock off damaged stuff...take a 120 dollar exterior door for the house for instance...60 bucks!

Anyways I'm in Waterford! See your in Taylor! How you like the audiopipe stuff? I can get that stuff from my supplier but never heard anyone with it yet...

I'm going to my buddy's with the 4 15's tonight if my sister will cough up the camera or I use my moms DV camera I will try to post a video.

Audiopipe is all I've ever really heard so I can't compare to anything else.

Accordman,

You would not want pics of my sister on here for donations.

1. She's 13, Jailbait.

2. She's a bitch.

I'm an idiot.

I forgot that the sub's more than 4 inches deep.

Maybe that would help in figuring out the port dimensions.

So it's def not gonna be 20 x 4.

Sub's mounting depth is 7.32 inches.

Round that to 7.5 for airspace behind it and my port can only be 10.5 inches wide.

How the hell can I do that with a 12 inch woofer?

I'm guessing for this box design to work you need more than one sub.

I've got an idea!

I can get little cheap-o 2in speakers from my electronics class for free, they come with the projects we build, and make a box for those.

LOL!

Wonder how that would sound.

One quick check question.

Port area is length time's width correct?
