brandonlearL7
I'm 16 years old, and this is my first car. I got it in October of 2011, and had subwoofers to go in it before I even bought it. I started out with a very cheap Acoustic Audio subwoofer and amp. I then bought a Pioneer from Wal-Mart, but returned it because I didn't like it. Then I found a Boss Audio online from Wal-Mart, but realized that wasn't shaking my mirror quite how I wanted, so I went on Craigslist and found two 12" MTX's. With all three of these hooked up to a 1000 watt amp, it wasn't getting much done. By this time, it was about Christmas, so I had some money to spend. I ended up getting 2 12" Kicker L7's in a sealed box. These lasted me until about two weeks ago when I switched them into a ported box and realized the spider had already started to tear. Luckily I had a few hundred dollars saved, so I was able to get an 18" DC Audio Level 4 with Level 5 Softparts The L7's and this were hooked up to a Boss Audio PH4000D. I was new to everything, and didn't realize that you really do get what you pay for. Below are just some pictures of everything now. I'm still working and won't be done for a while if ever. I have an American Bass VFL 100.1 amp that I ordered today. Please give me any suggestions, or advice. It is much apprieciated. I'll probably be getting a Pioneer AppRadio 2 very soon. This just isn't cutting it. MTX 6.5"- Again, I was on a very limited budget. They are decent for the price. Any suggestions, or friendly advice to a new AudioPhile BassHead are apprieciated Quote Vehicle: 1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5Front Stage: Oxygen Audio O2 ComponentsRear Stage: Oxygen Audio O2 ComponentsSubs: 2 12" Obsidian V2 w/ Upgraded Black Aluminum SPL coilsBox: 5.94 Cubic Foot Tuned to 34 HZSub Amp: American Bass VFL150.1 Mids/Highs Amp: Rockford Fosgate 120.2 Head Unit: Kenwood KDC-X396Electrical: Single Run of American Bass 1/0, Single Run of American Bass 8 Gauge, Big 3 Upgrade Build Loghttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161818-1999-toyota-4runner-sr5/
brandonlearL7
Getting rear ended after school didn't exactly help the build progress in the way I wanted. After this, I blew a head gasket, got a timing belt replaced, new breaks, air conditioning fixed, and new tires. It's spent more time in shops than what I've had it.. She claimed that her foot just slipped off of the break, but she didn't slow down at all, and had her phone out before she was even out of her car. Not to mention trying to back out from under my truck and take off as her antifreeze went everywhere. Somehow this damage added up to $1900. It helped pay for a new head gasket. This baby took it like a champ!! BenzBass
I really like smaller trucks and I think Tacomas look great. But getting rear ended sucks but it really seemed to work out in your favor!
brandonlearL7
I wouldn't quite say it worked out in my favor, because I never got the damage fixed, but it did pay for a new motor rebuild.. brandonlearL7
I've always wanted to do a demo, and while I was driving down the street today, I caught some kids' attention. I asked them if they would like to be on YouTube and they said sure.
