siucsaluki11 Posted June 16, 2012 Report Share Posted June 16, 2012 My clarions are now 4-5 years old...for the past 3 years, one of the surrounds has a hole from when i accidently put a drill through it in a rush to get them in in a new box for a comp when i had the blazer, right before i got rid of it. Put some silicone on the tear, and its held up to the abuse since...busted a 141 @ 37Hz that day. Currently, i have a 2010 lancer, and for power, i have a hifonics BRZ1700.1D running at 2 ohms to my 12s. Im not sure if i really care about getting my trunk back, ive gone 3 years without it (its a 2010 but i got it in sept 09). If i say fuck trunk space, probably either an FI Q, BL, or AQ HDC3A 15". If i decide to go with keeping my trunk space, thinking either a pair of ported 10s or a single ported 12, or a sealed pair of 12s (though ive always wanted to get loud off 8s). All of the new setups would be ideally run at 1ohm to get full power out of my amp. Ive been out of the game for a few years now. So i am not up to date on whos good and what works well in what. When i got out of all this, DC was just starting, T3 still existed, diablo had just started, and it was a war between AQ and Fi fanboys (though that could still be going on for all i know). So, if i were to go sealed...who makes a decent sub that will give me good output and take a fair amount of power? I havent thought of running a sealed box in about 4 years now. woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port... Cant remember the box dimmensions and tuning, but its large and low. Its ~17Hx19Wx21D. I know i can fit 3.8cuft ~low 30Hz with ~16sqin per cuft. The current box takes the whole trunk, but it hits hard and low, and sounds pretty good doing it. I think ive decided to just go with a 15" and say fck my trunk, i havent needed it in 3 years, why start now? But, im going into music recording, so i need to have something that can pound (im still a basshead) but also sound really good when i dont wanna just go set off car alarms, lol. Think ive gotten it down to 4 subs, Fi Q, Fi BL, RE XXX, and the AQ HDC3A. But now that im down to those, i think i may start a thread and see what kind of feedback i can get on these, after i do some more research. I stil think 3 8s would be hella fun, and ive got a design i did years ago for 3 DD 8s in my trunk. Gah, time to do some research incase i decide to say screw the trunk and keep it ported.... But if i go sealed, i really dont know whats out there that handles a lot of power aside from the RE XXX. As far as budget. Whatever it takes man...like to keep it to 5-600USD MAX. Only reason i would spend that much is for the RE XXX.
