adding speakers for SQ

Recommended Posts

I'm currently running 2 pairs of hifonics ZRX6.5C (its a component set. 75-16k Hz with an inline crossover at 3.5khz.) running on a hifonics ZRX600.4 amp. I'm wondering if my SQ would improve if I added more speakers. If so, how would I do that with the type of crossover I have and what would I implement in my system? My thought came from a 3-way speaker, except having the tweeter, mid and woofer separated. I'm trying to hear more vocals and guitars in my mix.

You don't aadd speakers for sq you want it louder that's not sq

Agreed if you place more of the same ranges your going to hear the same thing louder. I would for sure recommend 3 way comps splitting the frequencies should help you define them alittle more.

I think that's what I was trying to ask, Chris Davis. Is it possible to add on a different driver in my current component set and will that improve my sound quality(with using a crossover of course)?

I just realized that I'm misusing SQ. I'm thinking about definition of individual instruments rather than how good they sound.

Again you want it louder yes add speakers will make it louder

If you want instrumments to sound better that's all in the tunning or how you crossover the speakers best way to do this ditch the passive Xovers and go full active

Have you ever had your woofers blown?

I don't want it louder. I want it more defined. Like speakers handling a specific range of frequencies.
